The process begins pointing at Rodrigo Rato (second vice president of Spanish government and Minister of Economy between 1996 and 2004) and plans uncover the bad management of politicians and bankers responsible for the crisis, proposing to end with the impunity of their acts and behaviour.
May 23, 2012. - Members of various groups participating in the 15M movement (‘spanish indignados’); DRY (Real Democracy Now) with its Citizen Rescue Plan, the PAH (platform of affected by mortgages), the Citizen Debt Audit platform, X.net, #CierraBankia, TomaTuBanco (‘take your bank’), Democracy 4.0, # OpEuribor, Iaioflautas (elder activists), TomaParte and many others, have coordinated this specific initiative.
Through citizen journalism, curated by Minileaks website, volunteer lawyers and groups of experts in financial crime; the project collects anonymous information that any citizen wishes to give to uncover civil, criminal and ethical implications of this “crisis” and prosecute those responsible … starting specifically with Rodrigo Rato.
The people have decided to do what governments will never do.
What is proposed with @15mpaRato campaign? Why Rodrigo Rato?
#15MpaRato considers it essential for Spain to start a process similar to the Icelandic experience, including trials to point out those responsible for this scam called “crisis.”
Continuing to shift the discussion from austerity to economic inequality, Occupy Wall Street and dozens of NY-based organizations join global days of action, May 10th-15thBeginning on May 10th and culminating on May 15th in a mass convergence at Times Square, NYC organizations and individuals from all across the city will join together in action around the many issues we face: from cuts in social services, to an austerity agenda that redistributes your tax revenue into private hands, to the financial institutions (that we bailed out) that continue to make record profits at our expense. Actions on May 12th and 15th are in conjunction with global calls for action–coinciding with coordinated protests across Europe and the Mediterranean. Watch the video here.

* Transnational call to action in Frankfurt, May 16-19 * International solidarity in our common struggle *
We are calling for massive protests in Frankfurt this May against the crisis regime of the European Union. We are activists representing a multitude of movements and struggles from different European countries and elsewhere, who have risen up in the past months and years to protest the assaults on our freedoms, jobs and livelihoods that have become fiercely intensified in the global crisis. We have joined together and shared our struggles and experiences, and we have realized that in a multitude of local forms, we are fighting the same fight. Like never before, our movements are starting to strengthen each other: a truly transnational opposition is beginning to emerge.
Dear all,
This May 17-19, thousands of activists from a multitude of struggles across Europe will occupy the financial district of Frankfurt, blockade the European Central Bank and hold a mass demonstration against the dismantling of democracy across Europe and financial dictatorship of the ECB, IMF and Troika. We call for international solidarity and real democratization.
Mobilization will take place across Europe, and we hope to hold speaking tours in Italy, Spain and Greece in April. There is also a possibility for “city partnerships”, where groups in German cities will finance buses from cities in the European “periphery” to come to Frankfurt. The first such partnership is Berlin-Athens. In addition, we are currently working on a transnational call for action (to follow).
Please spread the word and contact us if you can mobilize in your region!
In solidarity,
Blockupy Frankfurt international mobilization working group
Ireland’s debt repayments on the now dead Anglo-Irish Bank and Irish Nationwide Building Society’s debts will reach over €47 billion by 2031 and probably much more when borrowing costs are added. The next massive payment is due on 31st March, worth €3.1 billion. This could fund the running of Ireland’s entire primary school system. Instead it is to be taken out of our society and will be disappeared by the Irish Central Bank
These debts are not the responsibility of people living in Ireland. They are the responsibility of those who lent recklessly to Anglo and those who acted recklessly within Anglo.
Unbelievably, people in Ireland are repaying these debts even though Anglo is currently under police investigation.
We, ordinary people living in Ireland, already suffering from an economic and democratic crisis we did nothing to create, have been saddled with repaying these unjust debts. A so-called ‘promissory note’ was created as a kind of “IOU”. This note does not have the democratic consent of the people.
This money could and should be used to maintain and expand public services and provide a desperately needed stimulus to the depressed economy.
I call on you to support an immediate suspension of these repayments and to advocate that the Irish Government enter into negotiations with the relevant parties, including the European Central Bank, to ensure that this unjust debt is written down in full.
Since we launched the ‘Stand Up For Tibet’ pledge in October 2011 nearly 50,000 people have vowed to do what they can to help the Tibetan peoples’ hopes come true. This is a critical moment in the Tibetan freedom struggle, when support and solidarity from individuals around the world could help turn these hopes into reality.
With each passing day we get more news about the increasing crackdown inside Tibet and the renewed bravery of the Tibetan people. Most recently Tibetans have been detained and even killed in connection to peaceful protests that have been staged across eastern Tibet [ http://issuu.com/internationaltibetnetwork/docs/resistanceintibet_selfimmolationsandprotest ] in the past few weeks.
For the past few months Tibet groups around the world have been working tirelessly to urge governments to take meaningful action for Tibet; and we believe that these actions are coming together. We have two key opportunities for us to raise Tibet high on the political and public agenda and we urge you to use your pledge to Stand Up For Tibet and take these two actions:
