3. MARIBORSKA VSTAJA, PROTESTI V MARIBORU

Maribor, Liberty Square

We demand that the irresponsible and the unpunished government officials, bankers and CEO’s withdraw from the democratic process we are creating at this moment in Slovenia.

We know exactly what we don’t want. Let us speak to each other what we want; what we desire as individuals, what we desire as a community. We need to open all the possibilities, all channels, all flows to talk about pain, oppression, violence, as well as hopes and visions. We need to listen to each other and to know that we are able to take the steps and enter the path of building such a democratic society, where even the weakest voice is heard, and one’s pain everyone’s pain.

Violence, injustice, intimidation and arrogance can no longer find refuge in our country. Theft and economic looting must be punished, and undue oppression of the people put to an end. We…

Slaughter in Gaza

Ayman Qwaider

For the last three days, Israel has been savagely launching aerial attacks on Gaza. The Israeli Air Force has conducted nearly 600 airstrikes resulting in at least 39 fatalities (including 10 children) and over 350 injuries, the vast majority of whom are civilians. The attacks are part of a larger and massively depressing spectacle of a usurping land-grabbing colony forcing a defenseless population into a wall-enclosed ghetto, and systematically starving and then bombing them.

The Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip have entered their fourth day. I write this report while the sounds of incessant bombings, which have continued all over the last three days and throughout the nights.

This is a testimony from my sister in Gaza:

“In Gaza, there is no place to flee. Every one of us is waiting for his/her destiny. In other words, every single minute you have the…

Throughout this day of mobilization and struggle, the Coordinadora will place all their endeavors, together with workers and organizations and social movements, to achieve a paralysis of the country in a Social General Strike, of production and consusmption.

But on the 15th, at 9am a new session of congress is beginning. We don’t know whether or not they will vote on the Debt budgets in this session, and we don’t know of the shame to send them to the Senate, or if in a new act of poltiical indignity and in contempt of the popular will they will have been cowardly approved on the same day—the 14th—turning deaf to the social rejection in the streets, a government and a political system in submission to the…
